The Company

English from England Ltd are UK developers of English language software for young learners who do not have English as their first language.

Based on the Cambridge Starters Syllabus, this is a unique English language learning website where pupils learn English with English children. Its clever use of film means that students can experience England and hear English, in their own classroom or at home, independently. The ICT element means that it is flexible.

The four co-directors of English from England each bring their own unique talents to The Learning Journey. With experience encompassing Language Teaching, Advising, Film making and ICT their combined strengths go to make an expert team who have created a high level learning platform to teach English to children from around the world.

  • Area of Speciality: Teaching a second language
  • Murielle was born and educated in France. Since arriving in England she has taught French in Adult and Primary Education, acquiring an in depth knowledge of teaching a second language. Murielle brought the people involved in English from England together to create this unique learning programme.

  • Derek has worked in the Television industry throughout his career. He has directed many TV shows including Blind Date and The Paul O’Grady Show. Derek also makes educational training videos. This led to his involvement with English from England where he is able to bring his experience to the film making.

  • Michael's interest in educational computing began in the early days of micro computers in schools, developing software that made the most of the limited power of those systems. English from England provides a similar challenge - how to present a valid learning experience while maintaining interest and simplicity.

  • Area of Speciality: Pedagogy
  • Glynis is a trained teacher. Her MA focused on aspects of how young children learn languages. She was the adviser for Primary Languages in Kent and piloted the innovative use of ICT in languages teaching. She is now using that experience to bring online English to the world.
